In conjunction with this year’s Fiesta de Frida, the Latino Center has curated a show celebrating the female influence in art and painting. Frida Kahlo was, and continues to be, a revolutionary figure in our culture. Artists young and old look to her work, her spirit and her activism for inspiration. In this exhibition we highlight the complexity and profound importance of the female experience. This selection of works from the collection of David and Terri Bischoff spans a diversity of styles, from portraiture to abstraction. Seen together, these works capture the proud and sensitive artistic spirit exemplified by Frida Kahlo and continued today in a new generation of artists.
Artists: Juana Alicia, Irma Lerma Barbosa, Claudia Bernardi, Nanibah “Nani” Chacon, Ruby Chacón, Rupert García, Lorraine García-Nakata, Patricia Rodriquez.
