Photographer Andres Alvarez examines Lucha Libre as a cultural icon.
"There is a family story that there were luchadores (Mexican wrestlers) in the room when my brother-in-law was born, and I thought that was beautiful-- so I wore a Lucha mask in the room when my son was born, and I see now how that the things I show him, teach him --create the mask he wears."
Alvarez examines labels/masks that people carry now: Mexican-American, Latino, Latinx, American, Chicano, Chicanx, Afro-Latino.
